Bring your little chefs and their favorite grandparents to the kitchen for Cooking with Bubbe, a hands-on intergenerational cooking experience at The J!
Elementary-aged children and their grandparents will cook, create, and connect while learning family recipes from Chef Leah in Heritage, exploring Jewish traditions, and making memories together. Each class will feature a fun, kid-friendly recipe and opportunities to share stories, traditions, and the joy of cooking across generations.
Whether your family calls them Bubbe, Zayde, Grandma, Grandpa, Nana, Pops or something else, all grandparents and elementary-aged grandchildren are welcome! Come ready to get your hands messy, try something delicious, and enjoy quality time together in the kitchen.

Cooking with Bubbe: Hanukkah
Celebrate Hanukkah together in the kitchen! Elementary-aged children and their grandparents are invited to a special Cooking with Bubbe experience filled with delicious food, family traditions, and a little holiday magic.
Led by The J’s Heritage Center Executive Chef Leah Kusaeva, families will work side-by-side to learn how to make traditional Hanukkah latkes. Along the way, they’ll explore the story and traditions behind this beloved holiday food while enjoying quality time together in the kitchen.
Come ready to grate, mix, fry, taste, and make delicious memories together across generations!

Cooking with Bubbe: Purim
Celebrate Purim together in the kitchen! Elementary-aged children and their grandparents are invited to a special Cooking with Bubbe experience filled with delicious food, family traditions, and plenty of fun.
Led by The J’s Heritage Center Executive Chef Leah Kusaeva, families will work side-by-side to make traditional hamantaschen—the beloved three-cornered Purim cookie. Along the way, they’ll learn about the story and traditions of Purim while creating something delicious together.
Come ready to mix, fill, fold, bake, and make sweet memories together across generations!

Celebrate Shavuot together in the kitchen! Elementary-aged children and their grandparents are invited to a special Cooking with Bubbe experience filled with delicious food, family traditions, and plenty of fun.
Led by The J’s Heritage Center Executive Chef Leah Kusaeva, families will work side-by-side to make delicious Shavuot blintzes. Along the way, they’ll learn about the traditions of Shavuot and why dairy foods are part of this beloved holiday.
