Which program will my child go to? Can I indicate a preference?

Children will be placed at The CDC at The J and B’nai Jehudah CDC based on availability, age group, sibling status and other factors. A family may indicate preference on the waitlist application, but there is no guarantee that preference will be accommodated.

  • B’nai Jehudah CDC offers full-time care for children ages 6 weeks-2 years old.
  • The CDC at The J offers full-time care for children ages 1 year-5 years old.

What does going to a Jewish preschool mean? Do we have to be Jewish?

Our Judaic curriculum explores Jewish values, traditions, and culture. Children enjoy special classes with our Judaic Specialist weekly and all children benefit from our focus on Jewish values. These values foster self-confidence, individuality, and value community, resulting in a well-rounded experience for all. 

What does a daily schedule look like?

A typical day is comprised of large and small group instruction. Children participate in a variety of activities including art, science, dramatic play, music & movement, blocks, toys & games, reading books, sensory exploration, cooking, and outdoor play.

What are the hours of operation?

  • CDC at The J | Monday-Friday, 7 a.m.-6 p.m.
  • B’nai Jehudah CDC | Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.

What are the teacher to child ratios?

We follow the state mandated ratios for all early childhood/child care programs.

  • Infants (6 weeks-12 months): 1:3
  • Toddlers (1 year-2 years): 1:6
  • Two Year Olds: 1:7
  • Three Year Olds-Five Year Olds: 1:12

Will my child eat?

Breakfast, lunch, and afternoon snacks are served daily to children ages toddler-PreK. We feature healthy and nutritious meals that follow guidelines set by the Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). Breakfast and afternoon snack are Vaad supervised and Kosher. Families choose between three lunch options: Kosher hot lunch, Kosher-style hot lunch, or a sack lunch from home. Our programs provide a nut-free environment for all students.

Children in our infant program will provide their own food/formula/snacks. Children will be fed based off of their individual needs and schedules.

Do you offer financial assistance for enrollment?

The J offers Financial Assistance through our annual fundraiser KC SuperStar and the generous support of donors. Families may apply for a reduction in annual Membership dues, Child Development Center, After-School Care, Para Assistance or J Camp fees based on financial need. Awards are not guaranteed and are based on income, family size, expenses, and other factors. Application information available here.

Does my child have to be vaccinated to attend?

Yes, we require all children to be fully vaccinated to attend our programs. The CDC at The J and B’nai Jehudah CDC do not accept vaccination waivers or exemptions for medical, religious, or philosophical reasons.
