Fitness & Wellness Programs for Adults 55+

The J offers health and fitness programs for senior adults that are made to benefit each participant, creating a longer and healthier life. Exercise is one of the most important habits to form and keep as we age. These senior fitness classes in Overland Park can improve balance for safety and reduce the risk of falls and improve cardiovascular health to reduce blood pressure and oxygenate the blood. Exercise elevates your mood by releasing endorphins and doing something active with others, and some of these classes can even improve strength and flexibility for overall health.

The following classes are free with a Heritage or J Membership.

Stretch & Meditate

Wednesdays | 11-11:45 a.m. | MAC Room

Need to turn your head to check for traffic, or reach into the cupboard for a plate? Want to improve your golf swing—or your cha-cha? Better flexibility can help with all of those. A more flexible body means you’ll have a greater range of motion in your joints, which makes it easier to move. And if you spend a lot of time sitting or looking at a screen, you’ll want to work the stiffness out of your shoulders, back, and hips. A focus will be placed on breathwork, which can help you with flexibility exercises and aid in reducing stress and anxiety. Are you ready to relax and loosen up?

Instructor: Aimee B.

Chair Yoga
