Swimming Lessons and Aqua Fitness in Our Outdoor and Indoor Pools

The J’s Aquatics program has something for everyone. From recreation to guided aqua fitness classes, our pools are perfect for getting fit and having fun. With both outdoor and indoor pools, The J delivers an aquatic experience all year-round.
Fee-based instructional classes are available for youth (six months old and older), adults, and seniors. The J’s aqua fitness and swim classes include:
- Swimming lessons
- Water aerobics
- Aquatic senior fitness classes
- Master’s Swim program
The Aquatics Department is an official American Red Cross Service Provider. All staff members and swim instructors are trained and certified.
Indoor Pool
Our indoor pool is open 365 days a year, which makes The J the premier destination for swimming lessons, lap swimming, aqua fitness, and other aquatic activities. A certified lifeguard is on duty at all times to keep our guests and members safe. Looking to ease your aches and pains? Take a relaxing dip in our indoor whirlpool and enjoy some hydrotherapy.
Indoor Pool Hours:
- Monday-Thursday, 5 a.m.-9:30 p.m.
- Friday, 5 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
- Saturday & Sunday, 7 a.m.-7:30 p.m.
Outdoor Pool
Our Olympic-sized outdoor pool is open during the summer and features diving boards, family-friendly water slides, toddler-specific Waterama play area with toys, and shaded screens to protect from the sun. Features include: Waterama, splash pad, slides, rock wall, and zip line.
The outdoor pool is closed for the season.

Poolside Refreshments
The J Café menu includes hamburgers, hot dogs, quesadillas, jumbo soft pretzels, smoothies, fruit, frozen treats, candy, and drinks. J Café (poolside) is Vaad-supervised on Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. All products sold have KC Vaad-approved kosher hechshers.
The J Café has closed for the season.
Swim Self-Assessment
Unsure of your child’s skill level, take the Swim Self-Assessment to determine which group class to enroll.
Infant & Toddler Group Lessons
This class for parents and children teaches safety, which can range from basic holds to jumping in with assistance. Open to ages 6 months to 2.5 years.
Preschool Group Lessons
Our lessons for preschoolers are for children ages 3-5. Swimmers will go from acclimating to the pool to gaining basic safety skills and swimming independently.
Youth Group Swim Lessons
Our group swim lessons are available for students of all ages. Depending on the students' skill level, they will progress from learning the basics of putting their face in the water all the way to refining their stroke technique.
Private Swim Lessons
Our private swimming lessons are available for students of all ages. Lessons are customized to the student's skill level, from the basics of putting their face in the water to refining their stroke technique.

With expert coaches, team members continue to build endurance while perfecting technique to become competitive swimmers.
Pre-Compete
Pre-Compete emphasizes stroke technique while building endurance. It prepares swimmers for Swim Team and competitive swimming by working on flip turns, starts, and dives.
Swim Club
Swim Club is designed to help swimmers transition to becoming year-round competitive swimmers. Swim Club is for those who'd like to begin racing, interacting as a team unit, and increasing technical skill while gaining fitness.
Adult Aquatics Programs
Swimming and water aerobics are great ways to maintain your health or get fit. Exercise in the water provides resistance for strength and toning while decreasing the impact on joints. AquaFit and AquatHIIT classes are free with your J membership.
Adult Swim Lessons
This program is designed for adult swimmers ages 18 and older. Trained American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors provide participants with water safety knowledge and stroke improvement techniques for swimmers of any level.
Masters Swim
Masters Swim helps adult swimmers enhance their skills for getting in shape, swimming for fun, or training for competition.
Diving
All diving programs are coached by Jeanette Giangrosso. We offer youth diving programs in the morning and Adult Dive in the evening. Spots are very limited.
