After-School Programs

The After-School Program at The J provides care from the end of the school day until 6 p.m. We provide a group experience with fun, recreational, and skill-building activities for Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Transportation cost to The J is included with your After-School Program fees.

Included with your After-School Program fees for area schools!

The After-School Program at The J has arranged transportation from Blue Valley and Shawnee Mission Schools within a 12-mile radius of The J via zTrip (WHC Worldwide). The drivers are trained and experienced in transporting young children, and they have been screened to work with our youth. Parents and children have the opportunity to meet their driver before service begins, and zTrip provides age-appropriate safety seats.

Financial Assistance

The J is pleased to offer Financial Assistance, through our annual fundraiser KC SuperStar and the generous support of donors, we can assist individuals and families in our community. Members may apply for a reduction in annual Membership dues, Child Development Center, After-School Care, Vacation Days, Para Assistance, or J Camp fees based on financial need. Awards are not guaranteed and are based on income, family size, expenses, and other factors. Enrollment and a deposit will be required for CDC, After-School Care, Vacation Days, or J Camp to process applications.

The J does not award 100% financial assistance.

Your financial information will be completely confidential. After completing the application process, you will receive a financial assistance letter via email. If you have questions about the application process, please contact Claire Curtis by email or 913-327-8220.

Enrichment Opportunities

The After-School Program at The J offers a variety of outstanding optional enrichment opportunities that are both affordably priced and “one-stop.”

Think about it...your child will not only be treated to the highest-quality supplemental activities, but your family will have the gift of more free time in the evenings, as we've eliminated the time-eating hassles of transporting your child to dance class, music lessons, sports, swimming lessons, and more.
