The Heritage Travels to various places both in the greater Kansas City area and the outskirts of both Missouri and Kansas. Join us for a fun-filled educational day with a stop for lunch at various restaurants, sometimes we even stop for ice cream!

Sep 19: Thu: Taylor Family Orchard (Day Trip)
Apple Picking at Taylor Family Orchard, we will begin with an educational tour and then apple picking. Apples are $1.50 per pound. Lunch at Ginger Sue's in Liberty on your own. After lunch you will have time to explore the quaint shops on Liberty square.

A private tour of this 1906 former bank building which know houses the downtown Kansas City library will be our first stop. The lobby is one of the most magnificent spaces in the central library. Across the street we will have lunch at Milwaukee delicatessen, on your own. Then it will be off to Casual Animal Brewing, a small batch brewer. Maybe you want to try Vipers in the Garden Hard Cider, Pumpkin Ale, a Shuttlecock lager, or other special, a flight of five is included. Tours will be available as well. If you need a Kosher lunch let us know in advance. Transportation provided by Gerald Rosenblum fund.

Enjoy lunch (on your own) at The Glass Cat Cafe before we head to Moon Marble for an exclusive look at how marbles are made. Explore the shop, relive childhood memories, and enjoy a fun-filled day! Spend a delightful day exploring historic downtown Lee’s Summit! Start your morning browsing the Wednesday farmers market or charming local shops. Then, enjoy a hands-on candle-making experience at Embers Candle Bar. For lunch (on your own), gather at Third Street Social, a cozy spot in the historic Arnold Hall (built in 1946). Finally, dive into the rich history of the area with a guided tour of the Lee’s Summit History Museum. Let us know in advance if you need a Kosher lunch. Visit Powell Gardens, Kansas City’s botanical garden featuring local prairie ecosystems—home to over 800 plant species and the most diverse community of soil microorganisms across all land ecosystems. Step into the magical world of pollinators and enjoy opportunities to learn more about these important creatures during their Festival of Butterflies. Lunch will be on you own at Lovett Coffeehouse & Eatery. Finally, we will stop by Cockrell Mercantile, a 100 year-old general store turned hidden gem located in Lone Jack, MO. Let us know in advance if you need a Kosher lunch.

Join us for a relaxing trip to the Arrow Rock Historic District, a National Historic Landmark along the Missouri River. Enjoy a 1 hour 45 minute ride with a lunch stop (on your own) at Sherri Lynn’s Diner in Sweet Springs, MO, plus a quick visit to a popular local cheese shop. Upon arrival, explore Arrow Rock with a guided bus tour, some free walking time, and admission to the Lyceum Theatre for the 2:00 PM matinee of Grumpy Old Men: The Musical — a hilarious story of two feuding neighbors whose rivalry is reignited by a new arrival.
