Our Curricula
Our program is designed to promote self-esteem, independence, cooperative skills, and the ability to problem-solve. We use two curricula to engage students, ages six weeks to five years.
The Creative Curriculum
The Creative Curriculum approach is a child-centered educational method that emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning and play to foster social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development in young children. The CDC at The J and B’nai Jehudah CDC use The Creative Curriculum as a way to guide and support our talented teachers and to engage and challenge our students.
The Creative Curriculum is:
- Child-Centered: Designed to meet the individual needs and interests of the children, rather than following a rigid, one-size-fits-all approach.
- Play-Based: Recognizing the importance of play as a primary means of learning and development, encouraging children to explore, expirment, and engage with their environment.
- Developmental Focused: Based on a developmental framerwork, considering the specific needs and abilities of each child.
- Hands-on: Teachers create weekly lesson plans and themes that use a variety of hands-on activities, materiens and experiences to promote learning and engagement.
- Family-Centered: Strong family engagement, and recognizing the importance of partnerships between educators and families is key to our child-centered approach.
Judaic Curriculum
Judaic Curriculum explores Jewish values, traditions, and culture. Under the guidance of our on-staff Judaic Specialist, all children learn about Jewish values, traditions, and holidays. Universal and Jewish values of caring and sharing are emphasized in our classrooms, fostering self-confidence that results from a well-rounded experience. Sheva, meaning seven in Hebrew, is an early learning framework exclusive to Jewish Community Centers. It boasts seven core elements, each firmly rooted in the latest research on child development.
Remini
Building and maintaining a strong home to school connection and keeping you involved in your child’s day-to-day learning experiences at our school is of the utmost priority. Our programs use a wonderful family engagement tool called Remini. Remini makes it easy for your child’s teacher to share real-time information about your child, giving you a view into daily events, learning experiences, discoveries, and accomplishments.
Teachers use Remini to share photos, videos and daily reports with you via email, online, and via the free Remini Parent app. Parents can use Remini to add drop-off notes, mark children absent, message with teachers, and share other important information with teachers.

Unique Experiences
Our facility, resources, and staff lend themselves to offering many “extras” to families; some are included with your tuition, while others remain optional. Included in tuition for 3-year-olds and up are a weekly group swim class taught by an American Red Cross-Certified instructor and a weekly P.E./gym class. Optional opportunities for your child include art lessons, cooking classes, dance classes, music, sports, and more!
Special Needs and Inclusion
We welcome children of all abilities to our programs. With support from the Jewish Federation of Greater Kansas City's Sasone program, our Inclusion Specialist works hand in hand with families to ensure all children are learning, growing, and enjoying the benefits of our program.
