What does Meshugge mean?

Meshugge CrossFit at The J carries on the spirit and foundation of the original CrossFit, but with our own unique spin. “Meshugge” is Yiddish for “crazy,” so if you’ve been looking for a CrossFit near you that knows how to dial up the energy and positivity to insane levels – you’ve come to the right place.

Our Meshugge CrossFit gym incorporates a variety of weightlifting, calisthenics, and cardiovascular exercises that can be modified and customized to accommodate any fitness level or physical need.

What to Expect from a Typical CrossFit Gym Class

Meshugge CrossFit classes typically last one hour. At the start of class, your coach will gather all attendees at the whiteboard to break down what the hour will consist of and provide an overview of the WOD (Workout of the Day). The WOD combines strength training and cardiovascular conditioning by using both body weight and/or weighted exercises performed either in blocks of time or by the number of repetitions.

Next, your coach will explain the scaling options for the exercises. Scaling options allow participants at different fitness and ability levels to engage in the class at their own pace.

Finally, your coach will guide the class through a general warm-up, then a workout-specific warm-up, then the main workout. Meshugge CrossFit workouts consist of weightlifting, gymnastics, and metabolic conditioning in varying combinations. No two classes are the same to ensure your workout is dynamic and challenging.

Once the main workout concludes, your coach will lead you through a cool-down and the clean-up process to get the CrossFit gym ready for the next class.

Engines

Start your weekend with Engines—an intense, high-energy Assault Bike class that builds endurance, power, and resilience. Every week features a fresh workout, blending aerobic and anaerobic intervals to challenge all your body’s energy systems. From short bursts of speed to longer stamina grinds, you’ll push your limits, improve mobility, and develop the kind of engine that powers performance in and out of the gym.

Whether you’re chasing peak conditioning or just looking for a motivating Saturday sweat, Engines delivers variety, challenge, and results.

CrossFit Vitality - 55+

Sessions: Sundays 9-10 a.m.

Discover the power of functional fitness at any age! CrossFit Vitality is a dedicated class for our community members aged 55+. This program goes beyond traditional workouts, focusing on movements that improve your independence and physical well-being.

What to Expect:

  • Targeted Strength Training: We'll use barbells, dumbbells, and kettlebells to build bone density and muscle mass, a key to maintaining vitality as we age.
  • Improved Functional Movement: Learn to move with confidence and ease. We'll practice squats, lunges, and carries—movements essential for daily activities.
  • Enhanced Balance & Mobility: Our warm-ups and workouts are designed to improve joint health, flexibility, and stability, helping to prevent falls and injuries.
  • A Supportive Community: Train alongside peers in a positive and encouraging environment where all exercises are scalable to your unique abilities and goals.
  • Whether you're new to fitness or looking to get back into a routine, this class will help you build a stronger foundation for a healthy and active lifestyle.

CrossFit Gym for Kids (ages 7-14)Kids jumping on boxes

Focused on FUNdamentals, our program teaches children proper exercise mechanics they can apply throughout life. This class will help kids with coordination, awareness for sports, playing outside, and simply being a kid.

As a wife and former stay-at-home mom to two kids, I truly appreciate the dedication it takes to prioritize health through life's demands. My mission is to build a welcoming and empowering environment where everyone feels motivated to improve their health and wellness.
