STEM Camps in Kansas City
STEM Camps provide fun hands-on learning using engineering skills and learning concepts in science, technology and math. Campers will work in teams to accomplish the tasks. Instructors from Tech Academy will provide the STEM activities. Campers will also participate in swimming, and other fun J Camp activities.
Each theme of STEM Camp will focus on a specific STEM topic. Sign up for one week or multiple weeks.

STEM Camp Theme Weeks
3-D Printing: Nintendo Characters
Entering grades 3-5
Create Nintendo-inspired characters using TinkerCAD while learning 3-D design skills. You will also participate in fun Nintendo-inspired challenges and create themed video games. Some of the student-designed projects will be printed and sent home. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts, and other fun J Camp activities.
- Week 1: June 1-5
Video Production: YouTube Shorts & IG Reels
Entering grades 4-6
Learn the art of producing video shorts for TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels. Edit the video, add motion graphics and special effects to your own video short, while practicing storytelling and film production techniques. You will be able to save your video. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts, and other fun J Camp activities.

Minecraft World Builder
Entering grades 3-5
Unleash your creativity as you work with a team to create a Minecraft world in four unique, themed quadrants. We will be using the PC/Java edition of Minecraft. Build different biomes or base a section on your favorite movie or video game! Meld your quadrants with bridges and separate them with moats of water, lava, or even the void! Campers will be able to save their games. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts, and other fun J Camp activities.
- Week 2: June 8-12
Robo-Racers: Cars & Dragsters
Entering grades 4-6
Start your engines and get ready to race! In this high-energy camp, students will use LEGO Robotics to design, build, and program cars and dragsters powered by motors and sensors. Working in teams, campers will explore different car models, learn how programming brings machines to life, and tackle fun challenges along the way. On the final day, campers will put their creation to the test in an epic racing tournament! Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts, and other fun J Camp activities.

Robotics Camp (RC) Battles
Entering grades 3-5
Build, Battle, and Conquer! Get ready for epic LEGO model battles in our RC Battles! Campers will work in teams to design, build, and program your own remote-controlled LEGO models to compete in thrilling challenges. Learn strategies to develop effective tactics for winning battles. Apply engineering principles to design and build models that are both powerful and durable. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts, and other fun J Camp activities.
- Week 3: June 15-19
Game Coding: Super Smash Brawlers
Entering grades 4-6
Dive into the creation of a Super Smash Bros.-style game using Construct 3, a powerful and user-friendly game development platform. Students will learn how to design, develop, and implement various game mechanics. Through hands-on projects and guided instruction, participants will learn game development principles. You will be able to save your game. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts and other fun J Camp activities.

Video Game Design
Entering grades 3-5
Join us for a hands-on experience developing a video game! Campers will create their own version of asteroids and other games using Construct 3, a visual coding platform that teaches campers the basics of programming. Learn how to create engaging game mechanics, stunning visuals, and sound effects. Campers will be able to save their games. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts and other fun J Camp activities.
- Week 4: June 22-26
3-D Printing: Star Wars
Entering grades 4-6
Create fun designs and complete different Out of this World Challenges! Campers will design 3-D objects using TinkerCAD and use Cura to bring the creations to life! We will be designing a Droid and other Star Wars inspired creations! We will also create our own video games. Each Camper will get to save their work and bring two printed items home. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts and other fun J Camp activities.

3-D Printing: Harry Potter
Entering grades 3-5
Create a magical pendant and wand using TinkerCAD. Campers will enjoy Harry Potter-inspired challenges and design themed video games. Campers will learn about creating in 3-D. They will get to save their designs and two of them will be printed and sent home. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts and other fun J Camp activities.
- Week 6 : July 6-10
Retro Game Modding with Java
Entering grades 4-6
Enjoy classic video games in this fun coding Camp! Campers will learn Java coding skills while modifying Retro Games like Asteroids, Tetris, Snake and more! Campers should have good keyboarding and basic computer skills for this Camp. Campers will be able to save their games. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts and other fun J Camp activities.
- Week 6: July 6-10
Intro to Minecraft Mod Development
Entering grades 3-5
Customize your gaming experience! Learn to make modifications for Minecraft Java Edition using MCreator. Campers should have good keyboarding and basic computer skills for this Camp. MCreator is a great tool to learn Minecraft modifying and to learn concepts of software programing. Campers will be able to save their games. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts and other fun J Camp activities.
- Week 7: July 13-17
Extreme Robotics: Battlebots
Entering grades 4-6
This camp will combine LEGO® building and the Mindstorms EV3 microcomputer brick made by LEGO®. In teams, campers will construct fun LEGO® models, experiment with programs, and compete in robotic challenges. Robot building, block programming, and teamwork will be part of each day's activities. The final challenges will be centered around hitting targets and a sumo battle. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts, and other fun J Camp activities

Minecraft: Poke’-Mods & Games
Entering grades 3-5
Join us for a Minecraft adventure! You will explore the world of Pokémon and work with a team to build your own Pokémon world! Create stunning landscapes, iconic locations, and even your own custom Pokémon using the Pixiemon modification. Discover hidden secrets and exciting challenges throughout the Minecraft world! You will be able to save your games. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts, and other fun J Camp activities.
- Week 8: July 20-24
Video Production for YouTube
Entering grades 4-6
Learn how to create YouTube content! Learn the tricks pro filmmakers use for better shots, lighting, and sound. You will also learn to use our film editing software. Then, campers will work in a group to create an unboxing or product review video. Edit your video, add transitions and special effects, and insert a soundtrack. You will be able to save your video at the end of the week. Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts and other fun J Camp activities.

Snapology: Amusement Park Engineers
Entering grades 3-5
Get ready to build the amusement park of your dreams! Kids will use LEGO Technic bricks, motors, and engineering kits to create moving roller coasters, soaring swings, and daring free-fall rides. Campers will discover how physics makes theme parks so exciting! Engineering has never been this fun! Campers will also participate in swimming, archery, games, crafts and other fun J Camp activities.
