Presented by Beit T'Shuvah
Performances:
- Sunday, April 11 | 2 p.m.
Presented by Beit T'Shuvah, the Los Angeles-based interdenominational Jewish rehabilitation and spiritual community, Freedom Song is a deeply moving and authentic original musical about the struggle of addiction and the redemptive power of recovery.
The performance unfolds around a Passover Seder, the ancient celebration of freedom from slavery, where a Jewish family gathers and comes face to face with the shadows that addiction casts over every seat at the table. Interwoven with scenes from a 12-Step meeting, Freedom Song invites the audience to witness the raw, honest, and ultimately hopeful journey from bondage to freedom. The cast is not composed of professional actors; every performer is a real person in recovery, sharing their own story with courage and authenticity.
Using song, dance, tears, and laughter, Freedom Song poses one unforgettable question: What is each person a slave to? Following the performance, audience members are invited into a powerful open discussion with the cast. This is an experience unlike any other, one that challenges, inspires, and reminds audiences of the profound strength of the human spirit.
