Inspired by the beloved picture book by Dr. Rachel Naomi Remen and brought to life by creator-director Jonathan Shmidt Chapman, "The Birthday of the World" is a magical, immersive performance created especially for children ages 0-5 and the grown-ups who love them.

Drawing from Jewish folklore -- including the ancient story of how the world was born in an explosion of light, and how the task of gathering those scattered sparks was entrusted to humanity -- the production invites young audiences into a world of gentle storytelling, visual wonder, and sensory play. In the story, the world is broken into pieces -- tiny sparks of light hidden inside every person and every thing -- and it becomes a shared, beautiful mission for all people to find and gather them.

Co-presented with The Coterie Theatre, this intimate and tender production is the perfect introduction to live theatre for the youngest members of any family. Performances will take place at in the Social Hall on the Jewish Community Campus during the White Theatre's renovation.

Recommended for children, ages 0-5
