Tom Owens' novel, "The Chimney," tells the story of Jane Duncan, a widowed mother with three children on a farm in Missouri, who are caught between pro-Confederate fighters and Union forces in the years leading up to the Civil War. Jane and her family are forcibly removed from their home, setting them on a course of survival and rebuilding their lives. Tom will discuss his novel and the history behind it.
