Enjoy bagels and nosh followed by an engaging lecture from Melonnie Walker, artistic director of KC Melting Pot Theatre, the theater co-producing "Rent" with The White Theatre at The J. Walker will explore Jonathan Larson’s creative process, tracing the show’s development from its earliest concept through its off-Broadway launch and success. She’ll discuss the real-life influences that shaped the musical, the groundbreaking themes it introduced, the major records it set, and the lasting impact it continues to have on modern musical theater, audiences, and performers. After the talk, we’ll walk across the hall for a matinee performance of "Rent."
