Not Your Mother's Mahler
A guided listening performance of Mahler's First Symphony

Our concert on June 2, will feature Mahler’s triumphant, Symphony no. 1 (Titan). Mahler was infatuated with death and life (in that order), his Symphony no. 1 is a coming of Spring – bringing in new life of sound, while remembering a nostalgic time of orchestral tradition. In addition we will explore the Jewish elements in Mahler's music and how he managed to mix, hide and redevelop his orchestral works to help him identify himself in Viennese society. This concert will feature comments from the podium, during the performance of this work.
