J Camp at the Jewish Community Center wrapped up another successful summer, with 737 different youth enrolled in School-Aged J Camp Sessions between May 31 and Aug. 12. The attendance numbers broke previous records.

Campers enjoyed a variety of activities, such as games, crafts, sports, archery, STEM, art, tennis, field trips, and swimming. Although always one of the most popular activities, swimming was especially fun for kids this year with the addition of The J’s newest feature, the rock wall. With new shade structures also added, The J’s pool was a great place to be during this hot summer.

J Camp programming integrates Jewish values and a love of Israel while promoting a sense of Jewish pride in campers. Through a summer exchange program, J Camp brought two Israeli students, Dolev and Noa, to Kansas City this year as J Camp Counselors. These J Camp Shlichim (Israeli Emissaries) shared their love of Israel with their campers and enriched the camp experience with a variety of Israeli cultural activities.

The Jewish Community Center’s J Camp provides summer activities for boys and girls ages 2–13 with 12 premier and specialty camps that provide variety all summer long. The Child Development Center (CDC) Camp also offered unique activities for children ages 2-5 years. Campers learn new skills with structured recreational and educational activities while enjoying art, sports, swimming, tennis, archery, field trips, special events, and more.

J Camp’s Ma’asim Tovim Camp provided a unique experience for 7th and 8th graders. Each week youth assisted others through community service in the mornings and participated in fun day camp or recreational activities in the afternoon. Youth are encouraged to be good and ethical people – mensches
