High school aged students can apply now to be a Champion of Memory and help plan our community Israel National Days commemorations. Selected teen Fellows will participate in a three-session learning cohort, tasked with creating and implementing a vision for the annual Kansas City Community Yom HaZikaron commemorations and Yom Ha'atzmaut celebrations, to be held in May 2024.

As part of each session, teens will spend time learning about the history of how Israel has memorialized its fallen, focus in on communal responsibilities for memory and collective commemorations, and help with specific aspects of planning the community-wide commemorations, including tertiary programs like matkon im-zikaron (introduced in 2023) and ratzim le’zichram (Memorun). Fellows will be guided in a combination of group and individual reflection-based activities and be exposed to primary documents, group discussions, and leadership development activities.

All sessions will take place on Sunday evenings (Time TBD), and Vaad supervised Kosher food will be provided.
