Sports Camps

 
Entering 1st - 7th Grades
8 weekly sessions: 9am - 4pm M-F
Early Care: 7-9am | Late Care: 4-6pm

Sports Camp is for campers who enjoy playing sports and being active. Each week has a sports theme. Our staff work with campers to emphasize sportsmanship and teamwork. Sports Camp includes games, archery, sports skill sessions, swimming and special events. Sports Camp also includes:

  • Participation in group tennis sessions led by The J tennis professional, Todd Perkins.
  • Group swim lessons with Red Cross Certified Swim Instructors. Generally 1st and 2nd graders have lessons four times weekly and 3rd and 4th graders have lessons two times weekly. More info available here >
  • Games, such as Ga Ga, Wall Ball and other fun camp activities.

Each week will include a variety of sports activities with a focus on one specific sport. Some weeks will include a field trip, and some weeks will include an Undernight.

  • Week 1 - June 5-9: Soccer (coed) - includes a field trip
  • Week 2 - June 12-16: Baseball and Girls Soccer – includes an Undernight SOLD OUT
  • Week 3 - June 19-23: Basketball (coed) – includes a field trip  SOLD OUT
  • Week 4 - June 26-30: Flag Football and Girls Softball – includes a field trip  WAITING LIST
  • Week 5 - July 5-8: July Jamboree week – special daily activities or field trips
  • Week 6 - July 10-14: Soccer (coed) – includes an Undernight SOLD OUT
  • Week 7 - July 17-21: Baseball and Girls Softball – includes a field trip SOLD OUT
  • Week 8 - July 24-28: Basketball (coed) – includes a field trip SOLD OUT
  • Week 9 - July 31-Aug 4: Multi Sports (coed) - includes a field trip  SOLD OUT

What is a J Camp Undernight?

A special activity at J Camp where campers can choose to stay at Camp on select Wednesday nights from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Campers will participate in special games and activities, a cook-out, an extra swim, and a campfire with songs, sports trivia and s’mores.

A Day in the Life of a Sports Camper!

Every group is different, but here’s a great sampling of what YOUR camper could be doing each day!

Next Level Advanced Sports Camps at The J

Entering 3rd – 7th Grades | 20 camper maximum
4 Weekly Sessions: 9 am - 4 pm (see below for dates)
Early Care: 7-9am | Late Care: 4-6pm

Enrollment limited to 20 J Campers per session. Enroll early to save your place!

Some Sports Camp weeks include an option for older campers desiring to learn advanced skills. Enrolled Campers will participate in Next Level Advanced Sports Camp in the morning, and join Sports Camp in the afternoon for recreational swimming (no swim lessons), and sports activities. For boys and girls entering 3rd-7th grade with prior skills and experience in the sport. Only available for full time campers, attending Monday through Friday.

Take your game to the Next Level with a week of both sport specific training and core athletic training all under the direction of knowledgeable coaches and trainers dedicated to helping young athletes advance in their sport. Individual and small group drills with small camper-to-coach ratios is the hallmark of our approach. Campers can expect to be challenged and pushed out of their comfort zones as well as motivated to work hard to reach the Next Level. Each camp has a limited number of slots. Athletes will be divided by age/skill level as appropriate. Sport specific equipment and other requirements are listed under each camp.

Week 1 | June 5-9 : Next Level Advanced Soccer Camp  For both field players and goalkeepers, looking to advance their game. Matt Multer and experienced coaches will focus on improving technical skills (ball handling, passing, receiving, heading, shooting) as well as tactical awareness (speed of play, game management, positioning) through challenging drills and small sided play. Campers will join Sports Camp in the afternoon for recreational swimming (no swim lessons), and sports activities. Bring soccer cleats, shin guards and water bottle.

Week 2 | June 12-16: Next Level Advanced Baseball Camp  For players who want to refine their fundamental fielding and hitting skills as well as gain a better understanding of the game. The camp will also provide position specific elective sessions each day including for pitchers and catchers. Mitch Martin and experienced coaches will lead specific drills in each area to create a strong fundamental background to help create a pathway to success on the field. Campers will join Sports Camp in the afternoon for recreational swimming (no swim lessons), and sports activities. Bring: baseball glove, hat, and water bottle (personal bat and helmet optional).

Week 6 | July 10-14: Next Level Advanced Soccer Camp  For both field players and goalkeepers, looking to advance their game. Matt Multer and experienced coaches will focus on improving technical skills (ball handling, passing, receiving, heading, shooting) as well as tactical awareness (speed of play, game management, positioning) through challenging drills and small sided play. Campers will join Sports Camp in the afternoon for recreational swimming (no swim lessons), and sports activities. Bring soccer cleats, shin guards and water bottle.

Week 9 | July 31 - Aug 4: Next Level Advanced Basketball Camp  For advanced basketball players that want to be pushed both mentally and physically. This camp will help players develop an elite player’s mindset, teach proper shooting mechanics, utilize elite level ball handling drills and teach players how to score and finish at the rim. Daniel Marklewitz will lead the camp to help players improve their footwork through speed and agility training as well as emphasize the importance of strength and conditioning and overall wellness. Campers will join Sports Camp in the afternoon for recreational swimming (no swim lessons), and sports activities. Bring basketball shoes and water bottle.

Half-Day Next Level Advanced Sports Camps

Half-Day TRU Basketball Camp at The J

Week 5 | July 5-7
1st-4th graders from 9 am - Noon
5th-8th graders from 1-4 pm

Hone your skills by participating in the TRU Basketball at the J’s Summer Basketball Camp.  Instruction, competitions and game playing will take place throughout the week under the direction of Damion Brown and coaches from the TRU Basketball Club.  Age appropriate equipment will be used for younger campers. Bring basketball shoes and water bottle.

Half-Day J Strikers Fall Kick Off Soccer Camp

Last Blast | August 7-11
K-2nd graders from 9 am – Noon
3rd-5th graders from 1-4 pm

Prep your skills for the coming season by participating in The J’s Fall Kick-off Soccer Camp.  Instruction, competitions and game playing will take place throughout the week led by J Soccer coaches Matt Multer and Will Grefrath.   Players will be grouped by age and skill within each session as necessary. Bring soccer cleats, shin guards and water bottle.

Half-Day J Volleyball Fall Kick Off Camp

August 14-15
3rd-5th graders from 9 am - Noon
6th-8th graders from 1-4 pm

Get ready for the upcoming volleyball season by working on the basic skills of bumping, setting and serving.  Ideal for the young player who is just starting out or trying to advance her skills.   Older age group will include more advanced skills and techniques.  Coaching provided by Daniel Marklewitz and experienced youth volleyball coaches. Bring volleyball shoes and water bottle.
