Paint Night: Shofar Workshop
Tuesday, July 30 at 7:00 pm
MAC Room off the Theatre lobby | $18 J Member | $27 Guest
(advanced reservation preferred - refreshments included)
This Shofar Workshop is hands-on! Bring a friend or two and enjoy refreshments and a trivia game as you paint your own piece of Judaica.
A Shofar is a traditional symbol of Judaica, once used by ancient Jews in religious ceremonies, is now sounded on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. Typically made from a ram's horn, ours will be made of ceramics, measuring 7.5" x 8.5".
We are excited to also announce that Rabbi Berel Sosover, Kansas City's ONLY sofer (Jewish Scribe) will inscribe or help you inscribe Hebrew on your shofar including your Hebrew name, a holiday greeting, a message of peace, etc.
Space is very limited, register today!
What to expect:
When you come in you will be given an unfinished ceramic shofar. You will be guided through the process of finishing it using glazes and your imagination to create your unique piece of Judaica.
Once you have completed your art, your shofar will be fired by us and returned to you. With your permission, we would be honored to include it in a very special High Holiday exhibition from Sept. 16 to Sept. 23. This exhibition will be suspended mid-air in the main lobby of The J! We promise to return them to you shortly thereafter!
