Meet The Instructors
Emily Vargo, a Kansas City native, has a degree in Musical Theatre from Wichita State University and has performed professionally locally and regionally. You may have last seen her in Wizard of Oz at the beautiful outdoor Starlight Theatre. Emily has taught classes and directed camps (Zombie Prom) at the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center and is so happy to be here at the J furthering her teaching/directing career having just co-directed J Camp's production of Peter Pan, Jr. this past summer! She can't wait to pass on her love for Musical Theatre onto the next generation and knows she will have an absolute blast! And hopes your kiddos do too!
Keith Wiedenkeller (Managing Director / Director of Arts + Culture) brings a unique blend of Arts, business, and non-profit leadership experience to the role of Director of Arts + Culture at The J. A lifelong patron of the Arts, accomplished performer, and technical theatre expert, Keith marries 29+ years of operations management and business leadership at AMC Theatres with a deep knowledge of the performing arts -- onstage, backstage, and front of house. He has performed onstage, consulted, and created productions internationally (with AMC Theatres), locally (with Heartland Men’s Chorus, Kansas City Women’s Chorus, and Kansas City Civic Opera), and at the Cincinnati School for Creative and Performing Arts, where he taught and served as Technical Director during its formative years.
Wiedenkeller is an alumnus of the University of Cincinnati and University of Kansas Theatre Programs, is himself a “Friend of Arts + Culture” at the “Designer” level here at the J, and has served in leadership roles on numerous non-profit boards, including two Kansas City-based non-profits which he helped found. He credits all of his success to the love and support of his spouse, partner, and chief advisor of 35 years, Anne.
