After-School Hours & Calendar

Students arrive upon school dismissal every school day, including early dismissal days, and must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. The After-School program will be closed for major holidays and major Jewish holidays around Rosh Hashana and Passover.

Vacation Days

For those not yet starting school, Vacation Days will be available beginning August 12.

Vacation Day programming is for youth in K - 6th grade and is available throughout the year when school’s out. Activities include arts, games, swimming, special events and occasional field trips. The hours are 7:30 a.m.– 6:00 p.m. Pre-Registration is required. For more information go to thejkc.org/vacationdays.

The After-School fee does not include care for your child on these days. After-School participants receive a $5 discount if you enroll through staff. Non-registered participants will be accepted based on availability and an additional drop-in fee of $5 will apply. Cancellations the day of will incur a $10 cancellation fee.

Eligible Schools & Transportation

The After-School Program is open to children from the Hyman Brand Hebrew Academy (HBHA) and schools within a 10-12 mile radius of The J. Contact us to determine availability.

We offer transportation through the Kansas City Transportation Group, 10/10 Taxi/zTrip. Taxi drivers complete extensive background checks and are specifically trained and experienced in transporting young children. Parents and children have the opportunity to meet their driver before service begins, and 10/10 Taxi/zTrip provides age-appropriate safety seats. For those enrolling after July 15, we will need 1-2 weeks to determine if transportation can be provided.

The After-School staff picks up participants from the HBHA at both the Kindergarten dismissal and 1st-5th-grade dismissal and walks them to the After-School Program.
