HC - Travel - Crystal Bridges - Bentonville & Rogers Arkansas

Cost: Double Occupancy $325 per person; Single Occupancy $415 (includes hotel, all admissions, 1 breakfast, 1 lunch and 2 dinners)


Explore the beauty of nature, art and local history in Northwest Arkansas. Situated in Northwest Highlights of this trip includes Crystal Bridges Museum and Sam Walton’s favorite restaurant, Fred Hickory’s Inn.

Day 1
Our first stop is the historic Fred Hickory’s Inn. This Ozark tradition was established in 1970 and a favorite dinner spot of Sam Walton. Choose from 5 house favorites such as Lou’s spaghetti, Fred’s signature 1/3 lb burger and The Inn salad. Following lunch, enjoy a 1-hour guided museum highlights tour of Crystal Bridges. The collection of American art is unrivaled, spans 5 centuries and includes favorites such as Andy Warhol's Dolly Parton. There will be plenty of time to explore the grounds on your own, revisit your favorite pieces or even take a guided tour of the outdoor exhibit Color Field (optional). We’ll make a quick stop at the hotel before heading to a local favorite, Tavola Trattoria for dinner.

Day 2
Begin the day with an optional sunrise experience at Crystal Bridges’ James Turnell Occulus. While inside the oculus, enjoy the spectacular changes of color and light as it interacts with this outdoor art piece. After breakfast at the hotel, a self-guided audio tour of the Museum of Native American History will blow your mind with over 10,000 authentic artifacts including a 12,000-year-old mammoth affectionately called “Tusker”. Next, it's on to the 21C Museum.

What can you expect to see at the museum? Nothing expected that’s for sure. Contemporary art of all kinds from sculptures to audiovisual pieces await. Following the tour, explore downtown Bentonville and visit local favorites for lunch on your own. Want a little more local history and flavor? Join an optional tour of the Walmart Museum, housed in the original 5 and dime store of Sam Walton. Before heading home we’ll visit our last destination, the Mildred B Cooper Memorial Chapel. Nestled in nature, this gothic style chapel features 15 main arches that are 50 feet high. Made of wood, steel, and glass, the chapels transparent design, surrounded by towering pines and stately oaks makes this a place of true serenity.
